SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES, Kahl, Germany has a new member on board in Rewritable Optical Discs. In October 2002, Dr. Bernhard Cord joined SINGULUS as Product Manager for the technological development of the MODULUS multilayer sputtering system and the SUNLINE replication line.
Dr. Cord received his Ph. D. in Physics, and in 1985 began working in R&D for thin film deposition technology at Leybold Corporation in Germany, where he specialized in magnetic and optical thin films for data storage applications. He continued this work as R&D manager at Balzers Process Systems and at UNAXIS. He has published many papers on magnetic storage layer deposition, and owns several patents.
Dr. Cord is excited to join the worldwide Rewritable Optical Disc Manufacturing Group, and feels their mission will be to "revolutionize video-making/watching and movie-going behaviors by establishing the convenient optical disc recording as the easy-to-make-and-distribute medium for personal use."
