On August 31, 2003, Kees van Nimwegen retired from SINGULUS OMP and handed the top management position at the Dutch mastering manufacturer over to Hans Ebinger as new President and CEO.
Kees van Nimwegen, a former engineering manager at PHILIPS, had founded the company in 1993 together with a team of 3 engineers, initially to build and sell CD testing equipment. For this purpose they coined the name Optical Measuring Equipment and Projects (OMP). After successful start, the financial resources were available to develop a CD mastering system based on revolutionary concepts.
In 1996 the Diamond Mastering System DMS 8000 was successfully launched. Continuous improvements over the coming years significantly increased the output and also allowed production of the upcoming DVD formats. In January 2002, the OMP founders sold all shares to SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES AG. Kees van Nimwegen remained on board as Managing Director to assure the continuous company and product development with the launch of DMS EVOLUTION in March 2003 being the next generation of LBR-systems. We very much like to thank him for all his dedicated work and achievements.
Hans Ebinger joined SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES in 1997 to develop the multilayer sputtering machine MODULUS and to lead SINGULUS move into the rewritable optical disc formats. As a product manager, he successfully launched the MODULUS into the market, which was adopted by several key players as PANASONIC and PIONEER, and also later-on the inline manufacturing system SUNLINE for all rewritable formats.
Since May 2003 Hans Ebinger served as Chief Operation Officer at SINGULUS OMP, to oversee production and customer installation before now stepping up to the Managing Director position.
