SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES Italia will hold a seminar on the new optical disc formats Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD as well as DVDR DL (Dual Layer). Representatives of SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES, SINGULUS MASTERING and other companies from the industry are going to present the latest about the technology and production of the coming format generation. This year’s seminar will be the sixth instalment of the event and will take place on June 8 at Hotel Duchi della Rovere in Senigallia AN, Italy.
Following introductions by Roberto Marsico (Director Sales Italy) and Klaus Hammen (Executive Vice President Marketing & Sales), the first part of the program will focus on HD DVD and Blu-ray replication as well as the market tendencies for these new formats. Recordable Dual Layer Discs (DVDR DL) and other steps of the manufacturing of the new formats – including mastering, molding and testing – will be on the agenda in the second seminar part. After the seminar, guests will be treated to a dinner and a surprise.
SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES is already well positioned for the emerging third generation formats. The company’s excellent starting position for HD DVD and Blu-ray is an outgrowth of its collaboration with the drivers of these new platforms, Memory-Tech for HD DVD and Sony for Blu-ray.
SINGULUS MASTERING has recently developed a standalone Laser Beam Recorder (LBR) for the mastering of third generation optical disc formats HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc: the 266 LBR. The experience gained from the experimental Deep UV LBR, as introduced already in 1999, combined with that of the CD and DVD mastering systems like the AM-Master and the DMS Evolution, has lead to the development of this stand-alone LBR.
At the MEDIA-TECH Expo in Las Vegas this May, SINGULUS introduced its new SPACELINE II HD for HD DVD-ROM and Prerecorded DVD production. The switch from DVD to HD DVD requires only a stamper change, assuring the replicator a real “Push Button Solution. The new machine achieves the most cost-efficient disc production and highest product quality and yield available.
Also in May, SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES announced the successful qualification of BLU-LINE – its forthcoming replication system for Blu-ray discs. Jointly with Sony the prototypes of BLU-LINE have been disclosed to top tier customers as well as to – for the first time ever – major Hollywood studios.
