Karlheinz Kress: “I began working for Leybold back in 1984. When Singulus became a separate company, I worked as a Mechanician. Having spent so much time on the road at customer sites, I’ve learned over the years what customers need and expect. In 1998, I was asked to assume responsibility of training matters, and eventually became Training Manager. After 23 years in this business, I am still passionate about my work, and have a lot of experience I’d like to share with you, our customers.

In years past, the standard for training was to offer classes in our Training Center with the purchase of a new machine. Training at one of our facilities vs. the customer’s site ensured machine availability, and meant no distractions or interruptions from day-to-day business. This served our customers well in the beginning, as they were new to our machines and needed to focus their full attention on learning their operation. Now, as the world of optical media manufacturing has matured, we find we need to adapt our strategy to account for the customers’ changing needs and levels of expertise. While we still offer standard training for new customers or new employees of existing customers, we also offer valuable courses for the more experienced operators, as well as more practical, hands-on training at the customer site. We are flexible and open to the needs of our customers, and are happy to custom tailor a training program to the specific needs of your staff.
