Kahl am Main, July 12, 2010 - A European solar cell manufacturer accepted a LINEA texturing machine of SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES’ (SINGULUS) subsidiary STANGL as well as an inline coating machine of the SINGULAR type for the anti-reflective coating of silicon solar cells with an additional integrated inline machine for the wet-chemical treatment of crystalline solar cells. Accordingly, SINGULUS realized the first installation of a so-called front-end system.
With the combination of phosphor cleaning and anti-reflective coating two important processing steps were integrated into a fully-automated process. The anti-reflective layer is an important element in the production process of solar cells and ties directly to the value-added chain from STANGL’s LINEA machine.
LINEA is an inline machine for wet-chemical cleaning and etching of solar cells with automated horizontal product transport. Integrated and combined with the anti-reflective coating the LINEA machine removes phosphor glass residuals from the doping of the cells. After the wet-chemical process the silicon solar cells are automatically forwarded to the SINGULAR for vacuum coating.
This installation and commissioning of a combined SINGULUS and STANGL production machine for silicon solar cells is another example and important integration step for the automation and cost reduction of modern cell manufacturing.
