SINGULUS reports successful appearance at the MEDIA-TECH Expo trade exhibition in the USA, two mastering systems sold
May 22, 2007

Kahl am Main, May 22, 2007 – The world's largest industry exhibition for optical disc production machinery, the MEDIA-TECH Expo, took place from May 15 - 17, 2007 at the Long Beach Convention Center in the USA.
At the MEDIA-TECH Expo, SINGULUS MASTERING exhibited its newly developed inline mastering system under the brand name of CRYSTALLINE, operating according to the PTM (phase transition mastering) principle. The new inline mastering system was unveiled to over 100 professionals at an exclusive event one day before the exhibition. SINGULUS MASTERING is now the only company in the world other than Sony to be in a position to supply an inline mastering system for all HD DVD and Blu-ray formats.

Two CRYSTALLINE mastering systems were sold directly at the exhibition.

The replication lines of the type SPACELINE II for the production of HD DVDs and DVDs, together with the BLU-LINE production line for Blu-ray discs, were also on show at the exhibition stand. Both lines attracted considerable attention. Sales of several SPACELINE and SKYLINE lines were also clinched. Further projects are expected in the wake of the exhibition.

At the exhibition, SINGULUS and Sony reported the initial results of development work on the new dual layer Blu-ray Disc technology with a storage capacity of 50 Gb.

SINGULUS had concluded a partnership agreement with Sony DADC in March on the further development of the production technology for mass production. The purpose of this partnership is to provide independent disc manufacturers with inline production facilities for dual layer Blu-ray Discs in the short term, in order to build up sufficient capacity for production of the new disc generation. To that end, Sony DADC is making the necessary production expertise available to SINGULUS.

The newly developed production line will be brought onto the market late this summer.
