High-definition television, HDTV (HD Ready and Full HD), combined with the Blu-ray video format, is the new technology of the media sector. Early in 2008 “Hollywood? opted clearly for Blu-ray. Warner’s decision to change over to the Blu-ray camp announced during the CES fair in Las Vegas had a massive impact on the sector. The penetration of Blu-ray in the US and in Europe is progressing significantly faster that expected. The demand for Blu-ray Discs is almost twice as high as the demand for DVD at its introduction in the years 1997/1998.
