This year’s SILMO International Optics & Eyewear Exhibition in Paris proved to be a huge success for SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES: Dr. Steffen Runkel won the Optical World Symposium Award at the 6th Annual International Symposium for the Optical Industry for his presentation of the OPTICUS as the most innovative product. The winner of the award was chosen by an auditorium of experts from the industry.
Dr. Runkel’s paper “Fully automated inline production of ophthalmic lenses“ on the SINGULUS inline production technology of the OPTICUS was voted the most innovative among 18 presentations. Developed by SINGULUS, the first OPTICUS was delivered this January. The SINGULUS inline technology includes the coating of eyeglass lenses with anti-reflective (AR)-, hard- and Hydrophobic layers.
Over 140 delegates from 17 countries attended the annual symposium organized by Optical World. The conference program offered presentations on a broad range of topics in the field of eyeglass lens production such as shaping, cleaning and coatings. The attendants were able to assure themselves of the potential of this technology which automates the manufacturing process of optical lenses, resulting in considerable cost advantages. The positive responses at the exhibition and the broad industry acceptance confirm that SINGULUS’ philosophy of inline production will revolutionize this field of work.
