SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES, the leading global manufacturer of optical disc replication equipment, plans to establish another manufacturing site in Schaffhausen (Switzerland) in the Spring of 2005. The Kahl-based firm will manufacture the next generation of injection molding machines at the new facility. The additional capacity will increase the company’s existing production sites.
Background:
SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES acquired the exclusive patents and other intellectual property rights for MoldPro injection molding technology from the Dutch OTB Group B.V., Eindhoven/NL as part of the ODME B.V. Mastering acquisition at the beginning of 2004.
The acquisition of these patents along with the ODME mastering activities has enabled SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES to secure the technology needed for the future of optical disc: Blu-ray disc and HD-DVD. High definition television and the third generation of optical data storage will open new markets for the company in the years ahead.
The new injection molding technology provides SINGULUS with a unique opportunity to manufacture the extremely thin substrates needed for Blu-ray. It is also suited for the injection molding of optical substrates.
