SKYLINE II: The Success Story of CD/DVD 5 Replication Continues…
May 27, 2003

SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES AG, the world market leader in production equipment for optical discs, is proud to present its new CD/DVD 5 replication line SKYLINE II at the upcoming Media-Tech show in Las Vegas.

With more than 1400 SKYLINE systems operated by customers around the world, the SKYLINE CD/DVD 5 replication line has become recognized as the undisputed benchmark for CD/DVD 5 production. But technological progress and production experience lead to a certain point in time when even a solid product can be improved. Working under the motto “THE BEST GETS BETTER?, SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES` designers began to work on a completely new design for a smaller, faster and more intelligent CD/ DVD 5 replication line. The result of their efforts is the new SKYLINE II which we expect to become the new benchmark for CD/DVD 5 replication lines.

The principle feature of the SKYLINE II is the integration of the SINGULUS V metallizer. The SINGULUS V is our latest optical disc metallizer and has been part of our product lines for over a year. The high performance of this metallizer significantly contributes to the increased reliability, high uptime and quick maintenance times of the SKYLINE II. Many of the design features that were developed for the SINGULUS V have been incorporated into the new SKYLINE II.

A further milestone of development of the SKYLINE II is the extensive use of AC servo controlled drives. This leading-edge technology is now utilized for all transport and process steps. Besides providing maximum precision and velocity, the servo drives with integrated drive encoders reduce the number of sensors to a minimum. These drives are a major contributor to the high productivity of the entire SKYLINE II.

The compact SINGULUS V metallizer and the use of servo drives allow a remarkable reduction of foot print. With a length of 1.35 m, a width of 1.09 m and the location of the downstream at the front side of the molding machine, the SKYLINE II can be easily integrated into production facilities for optical discs.

As with the first SKYLINE, the options for DVD 5 and CD-Card will also be available for SKYLINE II.
