STREAMLINE DVDR/SP-A: Economical DVDR production in less than 4.5 s cycle time!
April 25, 2003

The STREAMLINE DVDR/SP has meanwhile established its position as one of the most popular DVDR production systems in the world.

For unparalleled fast and economical production of all types of recordable DVD media SINGULUS developed new process modules and offers now the advanced manufacturing system STREAMLINE DVDR/SP-A with a guaranteed process cycle time of less than 4.5 seconds. The machine is already designed for faster disc transport cycles, thus offering a high productivity potential for the future.

In addition to the latest machine technology, SINGULUS can also provide all necessary process know-how for fast and long-term stable mass production of recordable DVDs using different dye systems.

Modifications on three different modules accelerate the production process significantly. At the same time the process windows are enlarged. In this way the long-term disc stability can be maintained for a tremendously reduced cycle time. Two dye modules with four dye cups in total are now applied for DVDR production leading to generous process cycle times even in the case of slowly evaporating dye solvents which are applied in certain dye processes. A brand new dryer concept with an optimized heating cycle and increased disc surface temperature values allows selective, fast and lasting dye curing while the mechanical properties of the substrates are stabilized.

A newly developed conditioning station between metallizer and bonding unit is established to allow the relaxation of metal coated substrates before bonding. This feature is highly recommendable for the application of thick metal layers in short cycle times as it is required for some dye systems and for increasing recording speeds.

Like the STREAMLINE DVDR/SP before, the STREAMLINE DVDR/SP-A is a dedicated inline production system and therefore provides highest process and disc stability. Process stability over long time periods means - besides constant conditions of single process steps - mainly a repeatable low disc deformation even after heat and moisture exposition.

The STREAMLINE DVDR/SP-A achieves this constancy repeatably by the strict inline concept and the use of only two identically operated injection molding machines as well as by the application of the unique spin cooling units, the proven dye modules, the new drying station and the leading bonding technology which was established in the early days pioneering the inline replication of prerecorded DVDs.

The special conditioning station after sputtering enables fast and reliable deposition of thick and uniform reflector layers as required for certain high speed DVDR formats.

SINGULUS' permanent research and development activities in DVDR mastering, molding, dye, sputter and finishing processes generate a deep technical understanding of every individual process step.

Our outstanding research team focusses particularly on the application of different dye systems and on the influence of stamper design, substrate geometry and the finishing processes to achieve the best electrical signals for these discs.

A second main point of development is to keep up with new writing speeds and strategies. Special analytical equipment has been acquired for this purpose. All experience of our research activities is converted into the functional concept of the line and also leads to optimized process parameter settings.

SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES is well prepared to provide all process know-how necessary for the mass production of high quality recordable DVD media meeting actual and future market demands. Process engineers with production experience are on our staff to transfer this knowledge and to help customers to achieve a smooth DVD+R or DVD-R production start-up.
