First Mastering System and Replication Line for Dual Layer Blu-ray sold to VDC Group, UK
August 05, 2010

London/Kahl, August 05, 2010 – SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES AG (SINGULUS) announces the sale of a BLULINE II replication system, together with a CRYSTALLINE mastering system from SINGULUS MASTERING, to VDC Group, the largest independent optical disc manufacturer in the UK.

Mr. Sanjay Mohindra, Managing Director of VDC Group: "Expanding our production facilities and stepping into the Blu-ray market, we will support our overall goal to facilitate our customers' requirements by being up to date and ready for Blu-ray and the coming 3D business, ensuring cost effectiveness and the improvement of our turnaround times. The reliable and high quality systems from SINGULUS ensure that we can remain flexible in our manufacturing, as we need to be continuously changing and developing new ideas to meet our customers' needs."

SINGULUS is the only source providing reliable mastering and replication for Dual Layer Blu-ray Discs. The SINGULUS Blu-ray Disc production system BLULINE II is designed for the economical production of Blu-ray Discs (BD ROM Single Layer and Dual Layer - BD ROM SL/DL), according to the specifications issued by the BDA. All production steps from molding, cooling, metallizing, wet-embossing, lacquering and UV curing to quality inspection are incorporated in the BLULINE II. Its functionality, speed and design set a new benchmark for the industry. Blu-ray production systems from SINGULUS are "3D ready" and a secure investment for future disc production.

The first mastering system CRYSTALLINE was delivered to the market in 2007. Since then, several systems for the manufacturing of single and dual layer Blu-ray Discs are being employed by customers. In parallel with the increasing demand for the BLULINE II replication lines, also the need for Blu-ray mastering comes up. In order to be independent and competitive, while at the same time appreciating the low production costs per master, CRYSTALLINE is the obvious system of choice.
